There are 3 main categories of check processing.

"Check Guarantee" is the most common of the check services. This is the service that makes you feel safe when you take a check, because the service guarantees the check, even if it turns out to be bad later.

"Check By Phone" or check by fax are names for systems that allow you to be set up so that you do not have to wait for the proverbial, "checks in the mail", in order to receive payment.

"Direct Debiting" is similar to check by phone, but is usually quicker and more sophisticated, but is typically for larger companies that do billing on a regular monthly basis.
