• The reasons we can save you money are numerous. It is not just a matter of lowering your base rate. That we can do, but that is not enough. Many companies offer what sounds like a low base rate, knowing that they are going to make it up in other areas

• Let's look at some of the ways you can save!:

Cost Plus Pricing	This is a whole category unto itself, but in brief, you as a merchant never pay more than a small part of a percent over the actual cost of a transaction, regardless of what kind of transaction you are running.
Small Ticket Pricing	This is also its own category, but refers to a special program for businesses that have a small average individual sale size. For this type of business, the transaction fee is more important than the percentage rate and this program allows for a reduction in that fee.
Proper Programming	You may think you have a low rate, but if the terminal is not programmed properly, then you won't get that rate or the best rate you should be getting for that type of transaction, unless the terminal is set up correctly. The credit card companies have different data requirements for different types of transactions, and if you are not passing on the data correctly because of the way the machine is programmed, then you will over-pay.
PIN Debit	PIN Debit is very misunderstood. It can be very useful. The customer must enter their PIN number when doing a transaction (requires some kind of PIN-pad device). They are not expensive and are built into some terminals, including our FREE terminals. The advantage is a rate that won't vary much from about fifty cents, regardless of the size of the transaction. For large ticket merchants, this is great, but for a pizza place, it probably won't save and could cost.
Downgrades	Perhaps the trickiest part of understanding credit card fees is understanding downgrades. The credit card processing companies have many fee categories besides just the base rate that you may be familiar with. For many reasons, when a sale doesn't fall into the base rate it downgrade, meaning you pay more. Downgrades can result from manually entering a sale, accepting a business card, rewards card, not closing your batch in a timely manner, or errors on the processors side. Many merchant service providers make almost all their money on the downgrades. We can reduce the cost per downgrade. We can put you on cost plus pricing which also can minimize the effect of downgrades. We will make sure to have the programming correct so that there are no unnecessary downgrades on your merchant account.
Low Volume Pricing	For merchants with a low volume, it is more important to save on the monthly, fees, set-up fees and fixed costs more than worrying about the percentage rate. We have programs for the low volume merchant that minimizes their fees.
Seasonal Pricing	We have excellent programs for merchants that do business seasonally, where they can turn the service on and off so that they do not have to waste money in those months that they know they won't be doing business. Several Point of Sale POS options for this.
